Now Entering Recruitment Season ... Cue the Ring Light
Did you hear?? - It’s #RushTok Season. Since 2021, RushTok has grown in popularity with more and more campus participants turning their cameras on and letting us take a glimpse into their fraternity/sorority experience. This trend made such an impact that even documentary filmmakers decided to get in on the action. Whether or not you’re the demo who’s spent hours scrolling or 90 mins watching that documentary, it’s clear that our fraternity/sorority communities have some opinions on the topic.
AFLV Connections has compiled different articles surrounding the phenomenon to provide an opportunity to look at #RushTok, #BamaRush, and what sorority recruitment represents to different people. In the next few weeks, we invite you to read (or listen!) to the stories, the perspectives, and the research these authors bring to the table. Let’s celebrate the recruitment season with a little more conversation around what it means to make progress in the work we do and how 18-year-old women started a trend we’re still theorizing about today. To quote the great philosopher, @fraternitysocialmedia, “If you don’t tell your story, someone else will.”
Check back as we release new articles and perspectives. We’ll link each post here as they publish!
