AFLV selects undergraduate and graduate student interns to serve as conference interns for AFLV Central and AFLV West each February.

Available internship Roles

Conference Interns

Our interns provide on-site support to professional staff members and volunteers who implement each event, including:

  • Providing exemplary customer service to all attendees: students, professionals, exhibitors, presenters, and inter/national fraternity/sorority representatives

  • Serve on conference standards staff (graduate students only), which includes late-night "rounds"

  • Preparing conference registration packets

  • Working on-site check-in

  • Supporting banquet and meal logistics

  • Posting and removing signage

  • Setting up and tearing down audio/visual equipment

  • Assisting with special events, silent auction, awards, and exhibitors

  • Greeting and directing conference attendees

  • Introducing speakers and make announcements to all conference attendees

  • Serving on conference speaker review committee (select interns)

UIFI Interns

Our interns provide on-site logistical support to the AFLV staff members, Co-Lead Facilitators and Small Group Facilitators who implement each summer session, including:

  • Providing exemplary customer service and support to all student participants and facilitation team

  • Pre-session communication to student participants

  • Serving as liaison for travel communication to and from the session

  • Greeting and directing session participants and helping them get settled in the facility

  • Overall logistical support of the session; ensuring supplies are ready to go prior to the start of each session day

  • Assisting with on-site registration, printing needs, session lists, emergency contact lists, travel schedules, door tags, mailboxes, keeping the AFLV office organized, etc.

  • Organizing gathering time snacks/activities for all attendees

  • Ensuring meals are prepared and set up on time and attendee dietary needs are met

  • Coordinating on-site store run for supplies/necessities for student participants and facilitation team, when needed

  • Building rapport with the facility/kitchen staff, the facilitation team, and the student participants

  • Tearing down session equipment, re-organizing supplies, and taking inventory

Expectations for Us and For You

Conduct

AFLV interns will uphold the highest expectations to behave in a professional manner because they represent AFLV.

Any inappropriate behavior may result in the intern’s termination with all encumbered expenses repaid to AFLV. AFLV will contact the terminated intern’s institution and organizational headquarters.

Compensation

Conference Interns

AFLV will cover:

  • your registration fee

  • the cost of your shared hotel room during training and the conference

  • all meals from the night of your arrival through Sunday afternoon (except Friday’s dinner)

Travel costs to and from the conference are the intern's responsibility.

UIFI Interns

AFLV will cover:

  • your registration fee

  • the cost of your lodging during training and the session

  • all meals from the day of your arrival beginning with Tuesday lunch through Sunday brunch

  • Travel costs to and from the facility have a fixed maximum reimbursement rate

Application + Selection

For UIFI interns, we give preference to:

  • Undergraduate students who are currently active in a leadership role within their fraternity/sorority community and are enrolled as a full-time undergraduate student

For conference interns, we give preference to:

  • Undergraduate students who are currently active in a leadership role within their fraternity/sorority community and are enrolled as a full-time undergraduate student

  • Graduate students with previous fraternity/sorority experience who are enrolled in a graduate program in any field of study
