Conference standards Policy

To ensure that all AFLV experiences continue to create space for learning and connection while also upholding the standards associated with being a leader, we have high but reasonable expectations for all attendees. It is expected each conference participant reads, understands, and follows the conference standards policy. To minimize hotel security involvement at AFLV Conferences, behavior will be monitored and enforced by the Conference Standards Team.

All federal, state, and local laws apply, as do your institution's policies and procedures. In all states, the follows laws apply and are strictly enforced:

  • The legal drinking age is 21 Providing alcohol to individuals under the age of 21 is illegal.

  • Providing alcohol to individuals under the age of 21 is illegal.

In California, the following laws apply and are strictly enforced:

  • While individuals 21 and older are legally allowed to possess a certain amount of marijuana for personal use, the use of marijuana in public places is generally prohibited.

  • Selling or distributing marijuana without a license is illegal.

At AFLV Conferences, alcohol is not permitted in the following:

  • During any component of the AFLV conference schedule.

  • In guest rooms where any attendee or guest under the age of 21 is or would be present.

  • Outside of spaces where it is legally served on-site (example: hotel restaurants)

Conference attendees must respect and abide by all policies of the host venue(s) and must not compromise or negatively impact the experience of any of its guests, AFLV attendees or otherwise.

Conference Standards Process

All standards policy incident reports will result in a meeting between AFLV and the individuals and/or campus delegations involved. Depending on the severity of the issue, as well as the cooperation of those involved, first incidents may result in a warning. AFLV does reserve the right to ask to leave the experience and the host venue(s) at any point and without any warning if deemed necessary. Additionally, University officials and inter/national fraternities and sororities may be informed of the conduct and the individuals responsible.

AFLV also reserves the right to withhold the ability for individuals or campuses to attend future AFLV experiences based on any violation(s) of this standards policy.
